Calculator Information:
 
This is a brief explanation of the fields and what values to use in them. 

At the top left of the calculator you have two fields.
  • In the first you would enter the total $ value of claims processed in a month.
  • The field below is the # of claims processed. The left column under that is:
  • Hourly rate- the spreadsheet then figures 1 months salary based on 160 hours
  • Taxes (soc-sec, un-employ. etc (calculated at 24% of monthly salary)
  • Benefits - Any benefits the practice provides - monthly value: (i.e. health insurance premiums, 401K, pension)
  • Office : Dollar value of space allocated for this employee ( i.e. $2500 / month lease and employee has 5% of space allocated $125/ month)
  • Phone: % of phone bill created by this employee (most businesses are charged a flat rate for all outgoing calls - that * number of calls)
  • Postage: % of total postage used by this employee
  • Overhead: office supplies, % of utilities, leased PC?, etc.
  • Cost of lost, rejected, and suspended claims is a percentage of the $ value entered into the first box. % is based on industry averages. Total monthly (column total) Total yearly (monthly *12) Right Column No incidental expenses or employee costs when outsourced.
  • Cost of lost, rejected, and suspended claims is a percentage of the dollar value entered into the first box. Percentage is based on industry averages.
  • Partial Service: based on a per claim fee ($5 used for this example)
  • Full Service: based on a % of $ value of claims processed
  • Monthly savings: Monthly cost (left column) - Full service fees (right column) - rejected claims - suspended claims
  • Annual Saving: Monthly Savings * 12 Play with the chart. Just put in numbers for $ value of claims. Check the numbers. Put in # of claims processed. Start adding in salaries, expenses, etc.
